Caffè D'angolo

Draiton walked up the cobblestone streets of the shopping district. The sweet fragrances of spices, herbs, and meats wafts thru the air. The street was not too crowded at the time but those who did pass cast nasty looks at him that made him feel lower the dirt beneath the rocks he stepped on. He could hear Karina's soft footfalls next to him. He sensed no telepathic connection being made as they walked. He took her hand in his again and led her around a corner where he opened the door to a small quiet restaurant that most people would probably pass by if they had not known of its existence. A small plaque next to the door read Caffè D'angolo. He turned to Karina and nodded, "Well this is the place."

Karina noted every single dirty glance sent his way, and resented each one.
You people sicken me...judging others just because of what they are, and not who they are , she mentally shouted angrily, making sure that everyone but Draiton could hear her. A few of them looked startled, as if they had never experienced telepathy before. The others just stared at her before shaking their heads or giving her the same nasty looks as they gave him.
She sighed to herself, just as she felt a hand slip into hers. Karina looked up at Draiton. Had he somehow heard her?
"Well, this is the place." Oh, he hadn't heard after all. Good. It angered her how cruel people could be...she'd experienced her fair share of it first hand. She had seen on his face that he was not immune to those hateful stares. Karina knew what it meant to feel so low, and resented those people all the more for their coldness.
Karina allowed none of her thoughts to show on her face as she walked through the door he'd opened for her, thanking him, and looked around at the inside of the restaurant.
It looks very nice, she said approvingly, with a smile.

Draiton gripped her hand a bit more gently and raised it to his lips kissing it. He bowed to her and looked over to some empty tables and then to a wall. There was a beautiful mural of Sicily painted on the walls and windows not showing the shadowy alleys around the store. He looked back into Karina's eyes and smiled, "Would you like to have a table, booth, or the bar?" The bar seemed to be the only place in the room that was not lit by a single candle that was lit at every table. The smell of garlic and freshly cooked bread wafts thru the air as they stand there in silence. Couples sit at small booths in the shadowy corners whispering to each other, business men calmer on at the bar swaying on their seats while talking about the rise and fall of merchandise prices. The peaceful setting of most the building was only broken by the occasional clatter of silverware on the table when it had slipped from the owners fingers.

"You know...a booth sounds really nice," Karina said, after mulling over it for a few moments. The atmosphere inside this place was very peaceful, and she felt herself relaxing involunarily. Taking a deep breath of the scented air inside Cafe D'Angolo reawakened her hunger and she became impatient.
Quietly, she reached out to Draiton with her mind again, so no one else would hear her inquiry.
Are we supposed to just sit down or do we wait to be seated?
