Welcome Alkalai

Artemis opened the door and allowed Alkalai to enter her home. No one had been to her house in so long it seemed abandoned, though the place was kept in perfect order.
Artemis couldn't remember the last time that she had spent more than one day or night in her house since her change. She had a video game room at the back of her that kept the kiddies busy when they came to visit her. She had been an avid baby sitter for many people, long before she was ever a Guardian or Mage.
Artemis went to where her parents used to sleep, they had one time had to live with her. They had not had enough money to stay on the little farm where she had grown up. Artemis offered them a place to stay with her and they had gladly taken her up on the offer. But when her shift occurred they had left quickly, still leaving much of their things behind though.
Artemis reappeared with a pair of comfort jeans, a black button up shirt and a pair of black boxers.
"Here," she said handing them to Alkalai. "You can take a shower in any of the rooms and then put those on. You can take a bath instead." She said once she had looked him over completely. "I think that'll help to soothe your muscles and the rest of your body. Stay in as long as you like. While you're in there I'll fix something for us to eat. You like anything in particular?" She asked as she smiled at him.

"Thank you" Alkalai said as she handed him the clothes. "These look like they'll fit me just fine. I appreciate this."
"Would you mind if i made some slight alterations to this shirt though? I'm not quite sure what's left of my wings will fit in here without tearing it. If you've got some needle and thread around here i can fix it so they'll go through without ripping it or hurting my wings."
The mention of food caught his attention.
"Actually", he said glancing over to the window, "I noticed some fruits out there i haven't had in a very long time. Would you mind if i grabbed one of those to eat before i got cleaned up?"

"You can make adjustments to it if you would like. My parents won't be coming back for anything left here anyway." Artemis explained.
"Of course go ahead and grab some. I don't mind. But do you want anything else to eat. You may need some protein in your diet for today to help your body get nourished." Artemis told him.
"The bathroom is down this hallway," she said pointing to her right, "and is the second door on the left. Call me if you need anything. The towels are in the cabinets below the sink."

"Thanks a lot" Alkalai said as he headed for the door, setting the clothes down on a table as he walked past.
A few minutes later he returned to the house carrying several different fruits and vegetables from the gardens outside. Placing them on a counter in the kitchen.
"These are really good fried, and these over here make a shish-ka-bob excellent. And these are the best boiled with some of those over there." he went on, telling her about several of the dishes he'd had over the years that were made of many of the hard to find ingredients found en masse in Artemis' gerdens of exotic fruits and vegetables."
"I'll show you how to make some of these when i get cleaned up" he said grabbing a few of the fruits that looked like a cross between an apple and a kiwi.
He picked up the clothes he had left on the table and asked "Where did you say the needle and thread were?"
She pointed him over towards a desk along the wall, where he found what he was looking for in the top drawer. He picked up the necessary items and continued down the hall to the room where she told him he could clean up and relax some.
When he got to the room, Alkalai couldn't help but look in awe at the architecture he saw in there. It was simply amazing. He'd been too pre-occupied with the food and clothing to notice before.
Once he finished looking around at the craftsmanship he hadn't seen in over a century, he placed the items he'd collected down and washed off the fruit in the sink.
After which he placed them on a small towel near the shower. Alkalai took off the cloak Artemis had loaned him and placed it next to the sink.
Alkalai stepped into the shower and turned the water on, testing it to check it's temperature. Once it had reached the point that it was nearly scolding he turned the shower on. At first the steaming water was almost painful, but the pain was quickly replaced by a feeling of relaxation as the blood and dirt slid away from him.
Standing in the steaming shower for a few minutes, getting all of the blood, dirt and grime off of him he put his face under the stream of water to get some of the muck off of it as well.
Once he was finished with that he began to clean some of the grime out of his hair. He found a cigarette butt and some potato chip crumbs tangled in, as well as a few spaghetti noodles.
After rinsing off, Alkalai turned the water off and stepped out of the shower. Grabbing a cloth from the cabinet he began to clean off some of the grime that had affixed itself to the sides of the tub.
It took a few minutes to clean, but it would be worth it to bathe in a clean tub, rather then in a blood stew.
Once he had managed to get the last bit off, be turned the water back on and placed the plug in the drain.
Alkalai stepped back into the tub and sat down this time. Enjoying the enveloping warmth as the hot, soothing water began to rise. He reached down to the fruit he had placed on the towel and cut one of them open using a knife he gathered with the sewing materials. Alkalai then began to chop up the fruit inside of the skin to make a gel-like paste which he then began to apply to his hair and skin. It helped to clean, as well as cleanse.
Alkalai leaned back in the tub and closed his eyes, taking in the events that had lead up to this point. So much had happened in the last 24 hours it was hard to keep it all straight. Reaching down for another of the fruits, he cut out a segment and placed it in his mouth. It tasted delicious, the likes of which he had not known for many years.
"Ah, this is wonderful. And i have Artemis to thank entirely for it. I'll have to cook something for her later or something. Most other's wouldn't have bothered with helping me. Most would have just stolen my feathers and been done with it. She's been so nice to me. I can't understand why people would want to stay away from her."
He placed another section of the Kiwi-Apple in his mouth. "This is so relaxing. I could stay in here for hours" Alkalai said, relaxing and enjoying the surrounding warmth of the bath.

Artemis walked to the room across the bathroom that Alkalai was bathing in.
This was her bedroom.
Artemis closed the door and began to take off her armor. As each piece came off she felt lighter than she had in years.
It wasn't often she was at home or that she took the armor off, except when she slept and bathed. The undressed and went to her closet.
Artemis picked out a white form fitting shirt that had a huge blue rose on the front of it, and a pair of worn in blue jeans. She hoped that Alkalai wouldn't mind that she got into her comfy clothes instead of being the proper hostess and stayed dressed up.

Nearly nodding off, Alkalai decided it was about time to get out of the tub. Looking at is finger tips, "I'm starting to get all pruney. And i ran out of fruit."
Alkalai had heard some metal clinking across the hallway and assumed that Artemis had changed from her armor. It looked pretty heavy. It couldn't have been very comfortable, he thought.
Letting the water out of the tub, Alkalai stepped out and began to dry off with the towel. He walked over to the counter where he had sat the clothes and began to get dressed. He stopped when he got to the shirt and rememered that he hadn't altered it yet.
Alkalai hopped up onto the sink counter and picked up the shirt and the knife. He made a few cuts to help the shirt fit over his wings and made it so they could fit through the shirt as well. He then picked up the needle and thread and sewed the cuts closed on the edges so they wouldn't fray.
Once he finished he gathered the things from the bathroom and went into the hallway. He began walking towards the kitchen and when he reached the end of the hallway he heard a door open behind him, Alkalai turned around to find Artemis coming out of a doorway across from the room he'd just been in.
She emerged wearing what looked like her favorite pair of jeans and a white shirt, emblazoned with a large, vibrant blue rose, that fit her curves well. Wow, there was one hell of a woman hidden under all that armor, Alkalai thought.
"I'm glad you didn't feel threatened by me and could make yourself comfortable. I owe you my life, I have no intention of hurting you. If i did, then i would invariably hurt, if not kill, myself too." Alkalai said with a joking tone, then with a serious look upon his face, he began "Even though your blood could not turn me, it's still linked my life to yours, since without it i would certainly be dead . So when i tell you that my life is in your hands, it is literally 'in your hands'. If you were to lose as much blood as i did, i would die, although your body would probably heal itself before you died as well."
Noticing he had just cast a somber mood upon the hallway, Alkalai decided to change subects. "Any way, enough of the serious talk. That warm bath felt amazing. You should certainly try one later, you look like you could use one about as much as i did. Let me know where i can put these towels and stuff and i'll come help you in the kitchen. The least i can do is to help you out a little, after all, you've helped me out so much already", Alkalai said with a smile.

"So you mean that if I die you do as well??" Artemis asked soberly. This helped put a more serious outlook on things.
Artemis shook her head. "Why are people putting their lives in my hands? I am sorry that I have put you in such a position." She apologized as she focused her gaze on her hand that was currently laying on the counter.
She remembered he had said something about cooking and turned to look at him. Artemis was able to get a good look at the fallen angel before her. He was quite nice to look, to say the least. But what would anyone want with a thing like her. She didn't belong anywhere.
Artemis shook her head trying to dispel such thoughts. "D@mn, I thought I had shut that voice up already."
"I do know how to cook you know. That one of the first things that we are taught at the White Tower and the Black Spire. They teach a cooking class to make sure you can survive by yourself and not starve." She explained.

Noting the worried expression on her face, Alkalai walked toward Artemis and place a hand on the side of her neck.
"You don't have to worry about me. You saved my life. I feel safe with my life in your hands. Besides, I should be okay once my wings are back, but for now my healing abilities are a little below par, to say the least. It would probably take me a little longer than a mortal to heal from a simple scratch."
"And the gardens you have will help me a great deal. I found a few of the items i need already. The fruits i took with me to my shower were one of them. See.", Alkalai said, turning around to show her that the feathers that were left had already begun to regain their sheen.
"And i wasn't trying to insinuate that you didn't know how to cook. I'm sorry if i did, I just meant that since you have such a large and well equipped kitchen that it may be easier if i helped, instead of you having to stop what your doing to get something from the other end."
"Of course, if you'd prefer me not to help cooking, just tell me what i can do. You've done so much for me already, there has to be something i can do for you."

"If you'd like i can wash these clothes for you", Alkalai said lifting the ball of clothing he had been carrying since he left the bathroom. "Just show me where the stuff is."
"I may still be a little sore, but i'm not useless. If you like, you can go ahead and take a shower and relax while i look around a little. This house is amazing."
"Besides, it's late and you really don't look like you want to cook. If you like i can make some snacks from the things i gathered and once you get out you can tell me a little more about 'Aeronwen'. I'd like to know what's changed in the many years since i was last down here."
"You go and relax, it doesn't look like you get much of a chance to. I'll go find somewhere to sleep and once you get out we can snack and chat a little before bed."

"I wouldn't mind learning something new. I'd love to cook with you. I think it would be interesting." Artemis said as she smiled.
"You don't have to wash those, I can do it for you. But if you are bound and determined to you can just put the clothes there in the laundry cabinet." Artemis pointed to the other side of the kitchen where there were shudder doors.
"At the White Tower we have a hot springs. I soaked there before I found you. So I'm fine." Artemis tried reassure him.
She went over to her counter and began taking out some dishware to be used.

"Okay, sounds good to me." Alkalai said walking towards the indicated shutters.
Placing the cloak and towels in the bin, "Where do we start?"
Alkalai walked over to the cabinets and started looking at the various items in there.

"Well first off. I'm going to be out of character and let you take the lead. You need all the nutrition you can get right now. Plus, I have no idea what all Angels eat. You would be a better judge of that than me."
Artemis leaned against the counter, and watch the Fallen Angel. She hoped that her calling him an Angel wouldn't bring back memories of his fall. As she thought of him, she thought of her other new friends she had made. One Demon, a Battle Mage, and now a Fallen Angel. Man, she made some weird friends she decided. Artemis smiled to herself. At least she had friends now.

"Let me take the lead, eh?", Alkalai said as he turned from the cabinets. "Well, let's see then. First let's get these washed up" he said as he picked up a few of the fruits on the counter, "and then we'll need to cut them into slices."
"You know, Angel's aren't all that different from everyone else. We're really only human without our wings. If an angel were to lose their wings and succumb to the blood loss, they would become an ordinary human within a few hours. The only reason I'm not is because i was able to keep enough of my wings attached when i broke free from that wall."
As Alkalai spoke he noticed a look upon Artemis' face that suggested she was deep in thought, but she looked happy.
"I won't interrupt her" he thought to himself, "She looks so peaceful."
"Hmm, We'll need some of this... and a few of these... and one of those... Then we cut these up... And toss those in here..." Alkalai went on, talking to himself as he went about the kitchen gathering and preparing various items for Artemis to try.
Noticing that Artemis had come back from her thoughts, "Thanks again for letting me spend the night here and all. Let me know if there's anything i can do to be of use to you. We all need someone every now and then, like earlier in the alley, If you hadn't come along i doubt I'd be standing here making this dinner."
"Here, try this" Alkalai said pushing a plate of what looked to be small, grilled fish on a bed of pineapple rings and that smelled wonderfully like a blend of cherry, apples, cinnamon and peach.
Alkalai knew she would probably be curious as to where the fish came from and why the pineapples rings were blue so he answered the question before she could ask, "They're not fish, and that's not a pineapple. Don't worry, it's not poisonous, " he said with a laugh.
Noticing the confused expression on her face, "It's all made from the things in your garden, 100% vegetarian. If you want, once this is finished, I can prepare some meat for you. What kinds do you have in here? If you want, I can try to catch something from the pond out front, or i can try hunting something in the woods around here."

Artemis blushed.
"Um... well... I don't usually stay in my house. I have offices in the White Tower and the Black Spire. So I mainly stay in one those." Artemis said.
"I don't have anything here that's perishable. Most of the time I don't come home unless I'm on vacation or on a long leave." Artemis as she blushed.

"Well then, You are now officially on vacation," Alkalai said, reaching into a drawer and pulling out a fork.
"And if that's unacceptable then just consider yourself my prisoner, " he said with a slight smile and a little laugh.
"You're going to relax and unwind some, and I'm going to make sure that you do. Here, taste this." He said as he lifted a forkful of the delicacy to her lips.
"You took care of me back there in the alley, so now I'm going to take care of you. Whatever you need or want, just tell me and I'll make sure you get it."
"I can try my hand at fishing, or I could hunt some avians or the smaller terran beasts, your preference. Now then, what would you prefer for the main course?" Alkalai questioned as he grabbed another fork and pushed the other plate of the food to the spot beside Artemis, where he took a seat to enjoy the appetizer and await her response.
